Hi, I’m Nick. Shortly after completion of the Certification Program in HVAC at Belleville Area College (now SWIC), I went to work for Barrett Heating & Cooling as a Service Technician. That was over 35 years ago. As their employee my knowledge of various heating and cooling systems has grown through both hands on and formal continuing education certifications. In addition to the technical growth of my career as a Barrett employee, I have been given the opportunity to get to know people from all walks of life.
Many of those individuals are friends, family, and acquaintances of my companion, Mary, who I first met when she managed apartments in Alton while working as a Home Health Nurse and raising a son and daughter by herself. As fate would have it, she was also the primary RN on my terminally ill Dad’s case. After his death, we became friends, then companions, and have been together going on 23 years.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with our family which consists of Mary’s son, Sean, his wife (Kris) and their two sons (Donovan and Jensen), her daughter, Katie and our son, Nicholas. We are very proud of all of them and their accomplishments. Besides enjoying time with the family, I like fishing, star gazing, bowling, playing my guitar, painting with watercolors, watching Create TV, documentaries, survival shows, and old movies. For me, learning never ends and that, outside of my family, is probably one of the things I most love about life.
